Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets to a 122-119 win over the Spurs on Friday, posting his third straight triple-double with 28 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds.

Nikola Jokic’s boxscore stats

  • 34 minutes played and added 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 0 blocks and 0 steals.
  • 10/16 field goals made-attempted (FG%: 62.5%)
  • 3/5 three point field goals made-attempted (3P%: 60.0%)
  • 5/7 free throws made-attempted (FT% 71.4%)
  • 6 fouls and 3 turnovers.

Jokic is the first Nuggets player to have three triple-doubles in a row since Fat Lever.

He just celebrated his 23rd birthday a few days ago, and he’s averaging nearly a triple-double in the month of February. He’s 0.25 assists per game away after his latest game, a 28-11-11 performance against the Spurs.

He was peak Jokic tonight, feeding players for 3-pointers and easy looks at the rim, threading passes and flinging goofy one-handed lasers around the court. He’s a magnet for rebounds, with his teammates letting him get the ball so they can start moving downcourt for transition opportunities. His touch around the rim is remarkable, oftentimes managing to get the ball up on the rim in a manner that looks like it violates the laws of physics.

Jokic and the Nuggets have now won four straight games and are tied with the Blazers for the No. 6 seed out West.

“I think there’s some people that understand what Nikola’s doing, what we’re doing but overall I think a lot of people, they don’t even understand what’s going on right now in Denver,” coach Mike Malone said after the game.

Led by Jokic, Gary Harris and Jamal Murray, this team is on the rise and they are only going to become more dangerous with Paul Millsap (wrist) due back soon.
